Fashion is an emotional cycle. It is re-invented over and over and over. Designers today consistently take their inspirations from styles worn long ago. Fabrics, patterns and colors from yesteryear are re-worked to provide a modern feel. But as the word 'vintage' has been overused, is vintage fashion in danger of disappearing?

No matter how you look at vintage, it is something that has been used. Right now, we are all embracing reducing, re-using and recycling so vintage fits in well with trying to reduce our carbon footprints. But how long will this last? The re-sale stores are being emptied of their vintage items, and as it is becoming more difficult to find them, the prices are also going up. The basics of supply and demand here...but do you really want to spend $300 on a used blouse?

Vintage means different things to different people. For some, vintage simply means a new article of clothing that looks old, but is made of new material and has never been worn. For others, vintage means the bargain hunt - heading to the second-hand stores and going on an adventure to find that perfect unique item. For others still, it means building a valuable collection - obtaining items that will not necessarily be worn, but that speak of our emotional fashion history.

Right now vintage is trendy, but in actual fact is has always been so. We live in complicated and stressful times - embracing the thought of a gentle past is not unique and this is currently reflected in our fashion style.
